Qantas has switched on in-flight WiFi for customers travelling on board an internet-capable Boeing 737-800, and the super-strength technology will allow travellers to stream Netflix, update social media and do their online shopping from the sky.
But far from being a step forward, one travel blogger has warned that plane passengers will eventually regret being so well-connected.
Here, the founder of well-being and travel website Detox-Retox.com Toni Jones, argues the case that WiFi on board is a step backwards….
“You can’t stop progress. I know that. But definitions of ‘progress’ differ.
“To the businessperson wanting to use the plane as an extension of their office, WiFi on board is of course a brilliant advance in aviation.
“To anyone interested in having less stress in their lives (which is more and more of us) WiFi in the air is a step backwards in our mission to try and be more mindful.
